Research Misconduct Policies

Contemporary Issues in Artificial Intelligence, under the umbrella of SciFormat Publishing, is committed to upholding the highest standards of research integrity and ethical conduct. Our research misconduct policies are designed in accordance with the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) recommendations to address various forms of research and publication misconduct.

Plagiarism

  • Prevention and Detection: Authors are urged to ensure the originality of their content and to avoid plagiarism at all costs. Our journal employs sophisticated plagiarism detection tools to screen submitted manuscripts for originality.
  • Guidance: Further information on avoiding plagiarism is detailed in our Plagiarism Statement, which is accessible on our website.

Authorship Concerns

  • Criteria for Authorship: The primary author must have made a significant contribution to the research and manuscript preparation. All contributors who meet authorship criteria should be listed as co-authors.
  • Acknowledgment of Contributions: Additional contributions should be acknowledged appropriately in the manuscript. The final manuscript must be reviewed and approved by all co-authors prior to submission.
  • COPE Principles: Our policies on authorship and contributorship strictly follow COPE guidelines, ensuring clarity and fairness in the attribution of contributions.

Citation Manipulation

  • Monitoring and Action: Any attempts at citation manipulation, identified through unusual citation patterns or peer review, will lead to manuscript rejection and possible sanctions against the author(s).
  • Definition: Citation manipulation includes excessive citation of an author's own work or targeted journals to inflate citation metrics artificially.

Duplicate Submission

  • Sole Submission Requirement: Manuscripts must be original and not submitted elsewhere. Duplicate submission violates our ethical standards and will result in the rejection of the manuscript.

Data Falsification

  • Zero Tolerance: Submission of data that has been falsified or fabricated, including manipulated images, will lead to immediate manuscript rejection and potential sanctions.
  • Integrity in Reporting: We emphasize the importance of accuracy and integrity in data presentation and expect authors to adhere strictly to ethical standards in research conduct.

Sanctions for Misconduct

In cases of proven research misconduct, SciFormat Publishing may impose the following sanctions:

  • Immediate Manuscript Rejection: Manuscripts involved in misconduct will be rejected immediately.
  • Embargo on Future Submissions: Authors involved in misconduct may face a submission embargo to any journal published by SciFormat Publishing for a minimum of 24 months.
  • Prohibition from Editorial Roles: Authors found to have committed misconduct may be prohibited from serving on the editorial board of any journal published by SciFormat Publishing.

Reporting and Investigation

  • Procedure: Allegations of research misconduct will be investigated thoroughly in accordance with COPE guidelines. The process will be fair, unbiased, and timely, ensuring confidentiality for all parties involved until a conclusion is reached.
  • Responsibility: It is the responsibility of all authors, reviewers, and editors to report suspected misconduct or ethical concerns to the journal's editorial office.
