Plagiarism Statement

SciFormat Publishing, in line with the highest standards of academic integrity and in accordance with the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines, strictly prohibits plagiarism in all its forms. We define plagiarism as the presentation of another author's work, including words, ideas, or data, as one’s own without proper attribution.

Types of Plagiarism

  • Literal Copying: Directly copying text from another work without acknowledgment, quotation marks, or citation.
  • Substantial Copying: Reproducing substantial parts of another work without permission and acknowledgment, considering both the quantity and quality of the copied material.
  • Paraphrasing: Rephrasing someone else's ideas or findings without proper citation, making minor changes to the wording while maintaining the original concept.

Plagiarism Detection

Prior to peer review, all submissions to Contemporary Issues in Artificial Intelligence undergo a thorough originality check using iThenticate. This process helps to ensure the work's originality and integrity. Submission of a manuscript to SciFormat Publishing implies the authors' consent to these originality checks.

Consequences of Plagiarism

  • Immediate Rejection: Manuscripts with less than 80% original content will be rejected outright before the peer review process.
  • Investigation: Any cases of suspected plagiarism identified by reviewers, editors, or post-publication will be investigated promptly in accordance with COPE guidelines.
  • Retraction and Sanction: In cases where plagiarism is confirmed, the manuscript will be retracted, and the authors may face sanctions, including a ban on future submissions to any of SciFormat Publishing’s journals.

Authors’ Responsibilities

  • Originality: Authors must ensure their work is entirely original or that they have obtained permission to use others’ material.
  • Citation: Proper attribution and citation of previous work must be included in the manuscript.
  • Disclosure: Authors are required to disclose any potential overlap with previously published or under-review work.
