Peer Review Option
OpenSciPrex encourages the advancement of scientific knowledge through the rapid dissemination of preprints. In line with our commitment to quality and scholarly contribution, we facilitate an optional peer review process that aligns with the open-access ethos of our platform. Here’s an overview of the peer review option we offer.
Understanding the Peer Review Process:
- Initiation of Peer Review: While OpenSciPrex, powered by Open Preprint Systems (OPS), primarily hosts preprints that are not peer-reviewed, we connect authors with a path to peer review should they seek formal validation of their work.
- Editorial Evaluation: Each preprint undergoes an initial editorial check to ensure adherence to our scholarly and ethical standards. Editors may identify works that exhibit high standards of scholarship and recommend them for peer review.
- Invitation to Submit to Journals: Authors of preprints that meet the requisite scholarly criteria may receive an invitation from the editorial team to consider submitting their work to one of SciFormat Publishing’s peer-reviewed journals.
- Journal Submission: Authors who accept the invitation can submit their work to the recommended journal. This submission will be subject to the journal’s standard peer review process and editorial guidelines.
- Article Processing Charges (APC): Authors are advised about any applicable APCs associated with journal publication after the peer review process. SciFormat Publishing provides clear guidelines on these charges, including information on waivers or discounts where applicable.
The Peer Review Process at Partner Journals:
- Peer Review Standards: The partner journals maintain the highest peer review standards, ensuring rigorous and constructive feedback from experts in relevant fields.
- Revisions and Resubmission: If necessary, authors will be given the chance to revise their manuscripts according to the feedback received from the peer review process.
- Decision on Publication: The peer-reviewed journal will make an independent publication decision based on the reviewers’ recommendations and the journal’s editorial policies.
Continued Support for Open Access:
- Seamless Transition: OpenSciPrex and SciFormat Publishing work together to ensure a seamless transition from preprint publication to peer-reviewed journal submission.
- Open Access Continuity: Consistent with our open access policy, authors will have the opportunity to make their peer-reviewed research freely accessible, subject to the policies of the journal in which their work is published.
- Transparency and Ethics: Throughout the process, we uphold our dedication to transparency and ethics in publishing, as well as our commitment to the principles of Open Science.
While direct submission of preprints for peer review is not available within the OpenSciPrex system, our proactive approach ensures that exceptional research can progress to peer-reviewed status, enhancing its scientific impact and reach.
